Before heading out to the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, Philip Anselmo's grind-laden black metal outfit Scour performed in Baltimore, Md. yesterday (July 5). The group had covered Pantera's "Strength Beyond Strength" at recent gigs and swapped the track for "Slaughtered," which was dedicated to the late Vinnie Paul.

Anselmo was brief in acknowledging his former Pantera bandmate, stating, "This one's for Vince," which was met with cheers from the club crowd. The Far Beyond Driven favorite was handled with a bit more extremity than the original version, despite it being one of Pantera's most punishing songs. Anselmo utilizes an even deeper guttural and some higher shrieks with a harsher bent.

Vinnie Paul passed away on June 22 and the cause of death has yet to be determined. There's been an outpouring of love for the Pantera legend, with tributes and condolences coming in from dozens of artists. His private memorial service was attended by rock and metal luminaries and while he did not make an appearance, Anselmo sent in a video message which stated, ""Vince...always have love in my heart for you, man. Rest in peace."

The drummer's most recent release, Hellyeah's Unden!able, arrived in 2016 and there's another record on the way according to bassist Kyle Sanders. He explained that the group had already recorded their next album and are currently wrapping up vocals, but didn't offer many details concerning its release.
