Peyton Manning to miss the start of the season?

December 12, 1997. I was six months and some change into my career here at 103GBF. More importantly to you, that is the last date that someone other than Peyton Manning started at quarterback for your Indianapolis Colts. That consecutive games played streak is in serious trouble based on the news today...

Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted:

We r evaluating the QB sitch,#18 healing but we got 2 b prepared 4 early season possibility without him,defense has 2 pick it up,big time!

That would be the very definition of bad news for the ball team.  The Colts have been abysmal thus far in the preseason (which is not anything new, they typically suck) but were always able to point at #18 as their saving grace.  Sounds like, at least to start the season, they won't have that luxury.  Which will lead many a Colt fan to making the Manning Face.

The preseason play in the last two games will be even more crucial then they have been in the past.  Can the 'D' pick up the slack? Can Curtis Painter complete more than half of his passes?!  Of course, you can hear it all play out (preseason, regular season, postseason?) here on the River City Rocker, 103GBF!
