How much would you be willing to pay for a pair of shoes from Payless? You probably won't find shoes priced higher than $30 or $40 there. What if I told you that some people would pay nearly $700 for a pair of Payless sneakers? You probably wouldn't believe me, but it's true.

In a recent prank/experiment, Payless opened Palessi, a faux-luxury Italian shoe store, and then invited some VIP shoppers to come check it out. The store was stocked with regular, everyday Payless products. The shoppers, thinking they were looking at high-end shoes, said they would pay nearly 1,800% more than the regularly priced shoes.

Just goes to show that the 'experts' don't know what the heck they're talking about, and that they're just buying the name. Also goes to show that there ain't nothing wrong with a $20 pair of shoes from Payless!
