After performing at Mexico's Heaven and Hell Metal Fest on May 5, Megadeth had the next month cleared before having to return to the stage. But that didn't stop Dave Mustaine from performing as he surprised fans in Argentina with an acoustic set outside of the Park Hyatt hotel last week (May 10).

When local media reported that the Megadeth legend was staying in Mendoza, Argentina and even disclosed which hotel he was at, headbangers congregated outside hoping for a Mustaine sighting. The crowd got what they came for as Mustaine walked out to cheers before sitting on the hotel steps to play a brief set.

In the video above, Mustaine performs bits of Cryptic Writings tracks "Trust" and "Use the Man." Enduring some issues getting the guitar to stay in tune, one fan jumped at the opportunity to play guitar tech and tuned Mustaine's guitar for him before capturing video from the rail along the steps.

Megadeth will kick off a European tour on June 5 as they continue to support 2016's Dystopia. The band has already started looking toward the future as bassist David Ellefson has stated that he'd like to see a 2019 release, but Megadeth aren't adhering to any specific deadline. In the meantime, the thrash icons are rereleasing their debut album under the title The Final Kill.
