Have you ever helped someone only to turn around and get bitten in the ass? At least you didn't end up with a case of bubonic plague.

Just for a refresher, the bubonic plague swept through Europe during the Middle Ages and may have wiped out up to 60% of the population of Europe. The event was called 'The Black Death', and literally had nothing to do with Nicki Minaj.

It tended to pop back up every now and then, until the 19th century. So imagine the luck one man in Oregon had after he contracted the plague.

The man came across a cat that had a mouse in its mouth. Looking to rescue the critter, he was ultimately bitten by the mouse. Perhaps this is a lesson about not messing with the 'Circle of Life'.

The man (whose identity hasn't been released) is listed in critical condition. He is only one of five people who have contracted the plague since 1995.

Oregon’s public health veterinarian Emilio De Bess said: “Taking a mouse out of a cat’s mouth is probably not a good idea.” I'm glad that fancy degree and those big bucks paid for that advice Emilio.
