Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda Once Again Denies Narcing on Sublime With Rome
Linkin Park took a little heat earlier this year when Sublime With Rome‘s Rome Ramirez accused someone in the band of narcing on them to police at a radio festival in Tucson for smoking weed at the show. While a police report does back up some of Rome’s claim, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda expressed that it was not him or any of his bandmates that sent the police after them.
Appearing on ‘The Jason Ellis Show‘ on SiriusXM, Shinoda once again addressed the matter. Before delving into his take on the situation, Shinoda found the humor in Rome’s tweet, calling the nickname “Linkin Narc” “by far the funniest nickname ever with regards to our band.”
Shinoda did state that he was in the area, as he met up with Josh Freese, Sublime with Rome’s drummer, but nothing was said to the police. He went on to add, “Apparently, from [Rome’s] perspective, we called the cops because they were smoking weed. First of all, if you were at this venue, there were a shocking number of police officers in the venue. Whatever happened, nobody called POT-911, cause [the cops] were there — they were standing outside the room. So I don’t know what happened and I have no idea what happened with who. But I know that I didn’t call anybody and I know Chester [Bennington] didn’t call anybody.”
The rocker adds, “Dude, we took … Snoop Dogg out on tour. We took Cypress Hill out on tour. Our second tour ever was with Kottonmouth Kings. Did I put Snoop Dogg in jail? Why would I do that?” Shinoda states, “He’s saying it’s poor form on our end, and I’m saying, and by the way I tweeted at him. I went directly at the guy like, ‘Look, I don’t know what happened. I’m sorry that it happened to you and I don’t know what happened, but I didn’t do it. … I didn’t lash out at him and I don’t think the guy’s an a–hole, but I think he was misled or whatever.”
In other Linkin Park news, the new song ‘Wastelands’ off ‘The Hunting Party’ album has been used to soundtrack a new UFC promo. Check out the clip, which combines Linkin Park concert footage with shots of some of the UFC matches, in the player below:
