King Diamond have unleashed the trailer for the long-awaited live concert DVD… and it looks amazing. The forthcoming DVD and Blu-ray, Songs For The Dead Live, features two complete King Diamond concerts – one filmed at the Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium on June 17, 2016 and another from November 25, 2015 at the Fillmore in Philadelphia. The trailer features the band’s classic tunes including “Welcome Home,” “Arrival,” “Sleepless Nights,” “Black Horsemen” and Mercyful Fate’s "Come to the Sabbath." Watch it in all its glory in the player above.

The 2015 Philadelphia show captures King Diamond playing the classic 1987 concept album Abigail in its entirety. The effort tells the story of a couple form the 1800s who moved in to a mansion haunted by a deceased relative. The relative tells the husband that his wife is carrying the spirit of a stillborn child and unless he kills her, the child will be reborn. The Philly concert film was directed by Denise Korycki, who also helmed live concerts by Cannibal Corpse and Killswitch Engage.

Back in 2016, we reported that guitarist Andy LaRocque and the band’s sound engineer Pontus Norgen began work on the sound files from the U.S. portion of the 2015 Abigail tour. “Andy said he was surprised by how good it all sounds,” says King. “I have personally seen a rough cut of the song ‘The Possession’… I can tell you it sounded and looked amazing!” King added that the project was taking longer than expected and that they were reviewing footage from European festivals they played during the summer of 2016 for possible addition to the DVD set.

King Diamond has been toying with the idea of released a comprehensive live DVD for nearly a decade. While the wait is almost over for die-hard fans, there is no official release date for Songs For The Dead Live yet. We will keep you posted.
