Killswitch Engage will be releasing their seventh full length effort, Incarnate, later this week (March 11). Having already previously unleashed three hard-hitting singles -- "Strength of Mind," "Hate By Design" and "Cut Me Loose" -- the metalcore stalwarts are serving up the fourth new cut off the disc, the album opener "Alone I Stand."

The album marks the second since the 2012 return of original singer Jesse Leach and Killswitch Engage sound as electric as ever, ramming through the gate on "Alone I Stand." All the hallmark sounds are in place, but it's the subtleties that go a long way here with clever composition and surgical drum fills that elevate the sum of the song's parts. Letting the guitars fade in, guitarists Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel lay down triumphant power chords, giving way to melodic leads and rolling drums fills before a speedy, uptempo rhythm gradually intensifies. Boiling to a head, they bring things down to a simmer on the clean-sung chorus with lush chords underneath.

Fans have now had the opportunity to hear the first four songs off the album, serving as a sterling indicator of what to expect from the rest of Incarnate. In our interview with Leach (video below), he spoke at length about the lyrics on the album and how personal his touch is on the record. He stated, “I can’t put out music that doesn’t have my blood, sweat and tears on it. That’s what Incarnate is to me, it captured a moment in time for all of us in the band. I’m proud of it, man.”

Killswitch Engage will be on tour in support of Incarnate, hitting the road on March 16 with Memphis May Fire and 36 Crazyfists. For a full list of dates, visit our 2016 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
