Justice League is just three months away and we’ve yet to get a proper look at the big bad. Ciaran Hinds’ Steppenwolf had the briefest of brief appearances in the Comic-Con trailer from earlier this summer, but it was enough to make out his face. Thanks to some early images of a new Halloween mask though, we now have a new look at the villain’s face.

Heroic Hollywood (h/t SlashFilm) spotted the new mask of the upcoming Justice League character, which is being released by Entertainment Earth. The mask shows off the villainous alien’s mug in sharper detail, with a dark blue grooved helmet atop his grey-ish wrinkled skin (can someone get this guy a good moisturizer?) and horned chin. A fan on Twitter shared an image that’s reportedly from the mask’s artist:

Steppenwolf, who is Darkseid’s uncle, made his first on-screen appearance in the DCEU in a deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In the scene, a SWAT team discovers the Apokoliptian supervillain levitating three Mother Boxes. But that version of Steppenwolf was noticeably different from the comics, with greyish, metallic armour that fused with his face. Warner Bros. redesigned the character for Justice League to more closely resemble the New 52 comics version, which we got a quick glimpse in the Comic-Con trailer while fighting Wonder Woman.

Hinds previously talked a bit about what went into the motion capture work behind creating the army lieutenant character and what to expect from him in Justice League. He told The Independent, “He’s old, tired, still trying to get out of his own enslavement to Darkseid, [but] he has to keep on this line to try and take over worlds.” With new merchandise likely rolling out ahead of the film’s release on November 17, and more TV spots to come, we’ll surely see more of Hinds’ big bad in no time.
