Papa Roach are one of rock's hardest working bands and at present the group is in the early stages of recording their next album. However, Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix got a respite from the studio for a night to come out and hang with many of his hard rock brothers and sisters at the Revolver Golden Gods ceremony Wednesday (April 24) in Los Angeles.

Loudwire had a chance to catch up with Jacoby Shaddix on the Black Carpet and he shared some details about the band's new songs, the progress of their album as well as his admiration for Joan Jett and Lita Ford's early group, The Runaways. Check out our chat with Jacoby below.

Hey, Jacoby.

Hey, how've you been? Good to see you again.

Doin' good, yourself?

Living the dream.

Speaking of living the dream, I see you're back in the studio doing what you love.

Yes, dude. In the studio working with the one and the only Kevin and Kane Churko, father and son production combo, and we are making the sickest, most illest P-Roach record to date, guaranteed. It's fiery, that's how I explain it. It's fiery. It's like I'm holding a light orb in my hand and when I put it to the sky, I take off like a superhero if that makes any sense. It's for real.

I saw a few song titles pop up here recently. What can you tell me about the songs that are already done and the progress you've made on the new record?

We've got a song called 'Just as Broken as Me' that's about forgiveness when you don't want to forgive but you know it's the best thing to do. We have a song called 'Never Have To Say Goodbye.' It's about a really good friend of mine who passed away the last couple of years. It's just my song … I never got to say my piece, and he was someone who really helped me when I was down and out and helped me clean my life up and then I went out there and lived that wicked life again and when I was out there, he passed away. I've always had a hole in my heart from that so I decided to write a song about that.

What else? I just finished another song called 'Face Everything and Rise,' which is just the P-Roach mode of operation, you know. That's what I'm all about. It's about stepping up to your problems and connecting with my God and walking through those things.

One of the things you've done so well over the years is putting yourself out there for the listeners without holding back ...

That's just my spirit, man. The more that I put myself out there 100 percent and fully, the more that I find it humanizes me, makes me real and connects me with the fans of Papa Roach. That's the most important thing and that's what our fans love about what we do and our band. I'll continue to do that. The more I shed the shell and be honest, it's just great.

Guns N' Roses and Joan Jett are both being honored here tonight. Big fan?

Joan Jett, 100 percent. 'Crimson & Clover,' c'mon dude. That was the one. That was the hot, dirty, grungy rock song that I just loved.

I know you're a Joan Jett fan, but how about the Runaways? I saw Lita Ford and Cherie Currie are gonna be here tonight.

For real? Where are they at? I want a picture! C'mon. That would be sick. But yeah, I'm a big Runaways fan and Lita Ford especially. Dude, she's awesome.

We're here tonight for rock and metal and there's a nice turnout. Give me your state of the state on where you feel rock and metal are at these days.

You know rock and metal is just something that will come and it will be huge and popular in pop culture and then it will go back underground. And it'll come back in pop culture and then go back underground, but it will never go away. This is a family here, no matter what.

There's a lot of different genres of hard rock and metal that are represented here and there's a lot of different press outlets. Some are very supportive and they help the brotherhood of music, while others tear that brotherhood down. So I just loving coming out to talk those of you who support.

Our thanks to Papa Roach's Jacoby Shaddix for the interview and look for more coming from the band later this year.
