IU Decides to Locate School of Medicine Downtown

Pat Shoulders made the motion to pass the proposal, calling the proposal “A win for Evansville.”
The downtown site covers about 6 square blocks, with boudaries on Locust, Cherry, Southeast Fourth and Southeast Sixth streets. The project will displace several local businesses including D. Patrick Ford and Townsquare Media.
The project will cost an estimated $69.5 million the City of Evansville will provide $35 million in incentives from TIF district funds.
So what’s next?
Just to be clear – this vote opens up the ability for further negotiations. Contract signing will come later. #iusme
