An Indiana high school student was suspended from school earlier this week after officials discovered that he carried a “hit list” around with him to class.

According to reports, a 15-year-old freshman at Edison High School in Lake Station was thrown out of school and could face expulsion after he openly admitted to having a written list containing students that he wished to kill.

School officials discovered the list on October 24, but a letter to parents explaining the situation was not sent out until Monday.

Authorities say the boy’s list contained the names of 20 students and teachers.

It was the help of several students that led to the capture of the potential assassin: witnesses snapped photos of the "hit list" with their cell phones and turned them over to school officials.

Investigators have not been able to determine the motive behind the list because the boy’s parents refuse to let him speak to the police.
