Indiana is one of several states included in the recall of more than 40,000 pounds of ground beef that could be contaminated with E. Coli bacteria.

The FDA says the meat was processed and distributed by Tyson Fresh Meats in Dakota City, Nebraska October 24, and sent to distribution centers in 16 states, including Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky. The contamination was discovered during routine testing of the production processing at the plant.

The recall effects wholesale 10 pound packages of chuck, fine ground beef with a "best by" date of November 13.

Because of the production and "best by" dates, health officials say it is likely this meat has already been consumed but the company issued the recall to remove any meat from this particular lot from the food chain. As yet, there have been no reports of illnesses associated with this meat.

If you believe you may have purchased some of the meat included in this recall you may return it to the place of purchase.

In Indiana: J. Winkler & Sons, Inc. – Dale, Indiana

In Kentucky: Southern Foods – Bowling Green, Kentucky
