The first glimpses from the set of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel (and Alien prequel) Alien: Covenant keep coming quicker, like drips of acid from the gaping maw of a xenomorph hiding in a builkhead. We already saw a picture of the crew uniforms (along with a patch sporting the name of the infamous Alien corporate overlords, Weyland-Yutani), plus a few other scattered photos of abject and unspeakable horror. Hey, it’s an Alien movie. That comes with the territory.

Today’s tease comes from the Twitter account @AlienAnthology, who just posted a very cool photo of a monitor on set.

That’s Katherine Waterston as Daniels, the female lead of the movie. And since this is an Alien movie, that means hers is a crucially important character. (The star of the previous movie, Noomi Rapace, will not return for Covenant; the only character reappearing this time out, at least as far as we know, is Michael Fassbender’s cyborg David.)

Here’s a slightly bigger version of the picture (which I also brightened ever so slightly so you can see the detail a little better. Clicking the picture will also give you a even bigger version.

And here’s the plot synopsis:

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition

There’s not a whole lot you can tell from a single photo, but this one does look suitably alien-y. I can just imagine that acid-spitting critter lurking right above the red line marking the frame. Alien: Convenant opens in theaters on August 4, 2017.
