Have You Ever Been “Catfished”?
I try to make my on air life as personal as it can be. I am willing to talk about the dumbest, most ridiculous things that I've done while exhibiting poor judgement. I think many of my male friends will understand the term "Catfished", because they may have been through it as I have. Here's the definition for "Catfished" from Urban Dictionary
My experience was last summer, when I was accepting some friend requests on Facebook. In the friend requests was a very beautiful woman. I approved her along with several other people, and right away she started messaging me, telling me she's a regular listener, that she loves to hear me on the radio, etc. We started a text relationship, never talking on the phone, always texting Her Facebook page was full of mutual friends and lost of pics of her dating back a couple of years. At least she was legit, right? Who knows. After a month of texting I asked her to go out. On the day we were to meet up she was unreachable by text, phone, messenger, etc. Her silence went on for a few days and my frustration was on the rise. Finally after nearly a week had gone by, she texted to say that she was sorry, she had been sick. I don't know about you I've I've never been sick enough that over a 3-4 day span I couldn't shoot someone a quick text. More dishonesty took place over the next couple weeks. I asked her out again, but something would come up at the last minute, She kinda knew I was onto her as I called her out by name on Facebook. She told me I was mean, slanderous (better read the law honey) and other nasty things. It was conclusive, I had been catfished. It's a shame. She was so pretty and had the penchant for sweet talk. If it was all legit, she would have made the perfect girlfriend. She has since unfriended me and I could care less. I wish I could post her name and photo, but I don't want to keep all this going.
Has this happens to you, male or female. Shoot me a message on Facebook or here and we might flush out more dishonest people.
