Green Day have just released the title track from their 12th studio album, Revolution Radio (listen above).

Almost exactly a month ago, Green Day shared the first piece of Revolution Radio with a lyric video for “Bang Bang.” The punk trio wrote “Bang Bang” from the perspective of a school shooter, and for “Revolution Radio,” Billie Joe Armstrong was inspired by a real-life event he found himself getting involved with.

While driving into Manhattan in 2014, Armstrong discovered a group of protestors who were marching in response to a Missouri grand jury’s decision to not indict a police officer for the killing of Michael Brown. "I got out of my car and marched with the people," Billie tells Rolling Stone. "It was a trip to see people rebel against the old order … I was just watching this controlled chaos, and it was going and happening all over the country. I was feeling that people don't want to feel obsolete in the things that we care about. That's sort of what the song is about.”

The lyric video for “Revolution Radio” almost plays like a music video, with cutout-style animation gripping the viewers attention just as much as the track’s words. Check out “Revolution Radio” above and get ready for Green Day’s 12th album to hit on Oct. 7. Click here to pre-order the album.
