The race for the division one championship of the Women's Flat Track Roller Derby Association is underway, with the next stop taking place right here in downtown Evansville.

10 teams from around the country, as well as London, England, and Canada will compete inside the Ford Center Friday through Sunday for the chance to advance to the international championships in Nashville October 31st through November 2nd.

Tickets are available at the Ford Center box office and online through Ticketmaster, with three-day, and single-day tickets available.

In honor of the playoffs making their way to town, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke will declare this week "Roller Derby Week" in Evansville during a press conference at the Ford Center on Monday at 3:00pm.

In case you're wondering if our own Demolition City Roller Derby Girls will compete in the playoffs, the answer is, "No". The reason being, they already have. DCRD were involved in the Division II playoffs a few weeks ago in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada where they placed eighth.
