Additional Information

The Walk to Defeat ALS® is the #1 way to empower yourself to lend support to those fighting and caring for someone living with ALS. Every year, hundreds of people across southern Indiana come together to raise funds to support care service programs, enable cutting-edge research, and advance nationwide advocacy efforts for people with ALS and their families.

ALS remains a fatal neuromuscular disease that strikes down even the healthiest men and women in their prime. As the disease progresses, a person's body can become totally paralyzed while the mind and senses remain unaffected. Simple tasks such as talking, walking, and eating become increasingly difficult and then impossible as the body's muscles waste away. The financial burden to the families of persons with ALS can be up to $200,000 a year. The emotional cost is incalculable.

Proceeds from the Walk will proudly go to The ALS Association Indiana Chapter in support of local patient services and much needed research. Your support would enable The ALS Association Indiana Chapter to provide urgently needed funding for our patient services and programs, such as our Loan Equipment Closet, Respite Program, Nutrition Assistance Program, as well as promising and innovative research into this devastating and heartbreaking disorder which touches thousands of us here in Indiana.
