The Evansville Police Department is urging residents in one area of the city's east side to make sure they lock their vehicles after several reports of break-ins over the past month.

According to a post on their Facebook page Wednesday morning, the break-ins have been taking place in the neighborhoods surrounding the intersection of Washington Avenue and Boeke Road. More specifically the area from Lincoln Park Drive on the western edge of the area to Dexter Avenue to the east, and Bellemeade Avenue on the northern edge to Monroe Avenue on the southern.

The Department included in their post that most of the break-ins have been taking place after 10 p.m. making it difficult for residents in the area to get a good look at the suspect. All that is known at this time is that it is a male of unknown race who at one point was seen wearing a dark hoodie and grey sweatpants.

If you or someone you know lives in the area and witnesses the suspect attempting to break into a vehicle, contact 911 immediately.
