Aside from my mortgage, I have spent more money on my mouth than anything else in my life. Yep, true story. I have had cleanings, cavities, caps, crowns, and even Invisilign brace. (Side note - if you are thinking about Invisilign - do it. They are wonderful!)

Your dental health is so important! If you think taking care of your pearly whites is simply for aesthetic reasons, you'd be wrong. But, I get it. I really get it - dental health can be so expensive. And, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, approximately 108 million Americans are living without dental insurance.

The team from Evansville Family Dentistry reminded us that, "There is increasing evidence that links oral health to overall health and well-being. The signs and symptoms of over 100 medical conditions, including diabetes, HIV/AIDS, Lou Gehrig’s disease and oral cancer may first be detected through traditional oral examinations."

“Dental health is a vital part of a person’s overall health,” said Dr. Lowery from Evansville Family Dentistry. “Through this event, we hope to educate patients on the importance of dental health and encourage them to adopt an ongoing oral care regimen.”

“Through this event, we hope to educate patients on the importance of dental health and encourage them to adopt an ongoing oral care regimen. We understand that many people in our community and across the nation haven’t been to the dentist for a long period of time. Some don’t understand the importance of dental health, but more often than not, they don’t have the financial means.”

To help combat dental issues and give back to the community, residents in the Evansville community and from around the tri-state will receive free dental services at Evansville Family Dentistry on Friday, September 7.

“This event is a great opportunity for us to share our time and resources with those less fortunate and give back to the community," said Dr. Lowery.

During Free Dentistry Day, a choice of one free cleaning, filling or extraction will be provided per patient to both adults and children on Friday, September 7, starting at 7 a.m. at Evansville Family Dentistry on 1220 Washington Avenue in Evansville. Patients will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, please call 812-473-1400 or visit www.FreeDentistryDay.org.

“It’s very gratifying to see the impact that events like Free Dentistry Day can have on the life of a person. At the same time, we’re changing their life [and] they’re changing ours,” said Dr. Lowery.
