Yes, a sequel to the 1994 comedy that helped put Jim Carrey on the map is on the way. We’re saying there is more than a chance of a ‘Dumb and Dumber’ sequel hitting theaters soon.

In fact, according to director Peter Farrelly, a sequel to the comedy classic is all set to go, with shooting to begin in September. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, who played moronic pals Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne in the original, are both on board.

When announcing ‘Dumber & Dumber 2′, Farrelly made sure to remind everybody that he and his cowriter/codirector brother Peter had nothing to do with the 2003 prequel ‘Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd’, which featured different actors in the title roles and was a critical and box office bomb. “That was a studio thing,” Farrelly clarified.

Apparently the brothers had always wanted to do a sequel and Jeff Daniels had long been on board. After recently watching the movie, Carrey called Farrelly and said, “We’ve got to do this again.”

No word on the plot, but one would assume Harry and Lloyd will be considerably older. Hopefully they won’t be a day wiser.
