Dawson weighs in at just 46 pounds and has had a rough start to life. He is now looking for his true forever home. Here's what PCPP has to say about Dawson:

Dawson...  came to us anemic, heartworm positive, emaciated and had been eating rocks for food. He had a broken jaw and was so sick and not responding to medication. The first vet recommended euthanasia so we took him to a different vet. His road to recovery took 6 months for him to get healthy enough to go through heartworm treatment and then neutered. Dawson is now ready for adoption. He’s very shy when you first meet him but once he warms up to his new surroundings he is playful but not high energy. He loves his kennel, his safe place. He goes out to potty and is ready to come back in because he prefers the security of the indoors. He rarely barks and is very quiet. He would love the company of another dog to help him feel more secure. He is house and crate trained, does not chew or destroy anything. Initially he could be a flight risk so we prefer his new home has a secured fenced yard. He would be fine with older, respectful kids. Dawson has the cutest face where you can see the uneven jaw when he smiles. He will melt your heart! To the family who will be blessed to have Dawson as your own, you must be willing to be his safe harbor so he can forget his haunted past and most important, to teach him that humans can be trusted after all. We guarantee he will melt your heart.
