It seems like every state in the union has legends about a strange creature that inhabits the forest of the waters in the area.   From Bigfoot in the Pacific Northwest, to the Ohio Grassman, to the Jersey Devil and more, residents in those areas swear that they have seen unusual creatures that are allegedly not human.  Even Evansville has some folklore in this area.

Evansville's most serious monster action can be found in the Ohio river. In 1955, two women were swimming in the Ohio River near Evansville when one was tugged underwater by a green, hairy, clawed hand. The victim escaped and returned to shore bruised, cut, and bearing a green handprint on her leg that lingered for days. In a startling coincidence, this encounter occurred shortly after the release of the famous gill-man epic Creature from the Black Lagoon. There’s even a similar scene in the movie. What are the odds?  Check out the movie trailer below to see the similarities.

Bullshit or not, it makes you wonder what lies beneath the murky depths of the Ohio River. Below are a few amateur videos touching on this subject,  The first one is pretty long, but you can see disruption in the water near the boat of passengers that shot the video.

Believable?  You be the judge?  Below is another video from the "Underbelly Of Evansville Series" from the 103GBF You Tube Channel
