It’s still hard to believe that perhaps metal’s greatest voice, Ronnie James Dio, was silenced over three years ago. In celebration of Dio’s life and unparalleled career, many of rock and metal’s biggest names have joined forces to record the ultimate tribute album, ‘Ronnie James Dio: This is Your Life.’

The metal legend passed away from stomach cancer in 2010, but the memory of Ronnie James Dio has not faded one bit. For this landmark tribute, bands such as Metallica, Anthrax, Killswitch Engage and Motorhead, along with artists like Rob Halford, Corey Taylor and Glenn Hughes entered the studio to cover some of Ronnie’s greatest works from Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Dio. Rounding out the album, Dio’s original track ‘This is Your Life’ from the ‘Angry Machines’ album will act as the tribute record’s final song.

The ‘Ronnie James Dio: This is Your Life’ album will raise money for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund. Co-founded by Ronnie’s widow, Wendy Dio, the fund was set up in the singer’s memory to “support cancer prevention research, raise awareness and educate the public with the focus that early detection and prevention is of vital importance.”

‘Ronnie James Dio: This is Your Life’ will become available April 1 via Rhino.
