This week, families will come together from all across the nation for Thanksgiving. They will stuff themselves full of turkey, side dishes and desserts. Some will laugh and joke with relatives, while others renew old feuds and bicker with their cousins and siblings. The last time we heard about somebody having his ear bitten off during a fight, the unfortunate victim was boxer Evander Holyfield. This time both the suddenly ear-less man and the flesh-chomping perpetrator are holy men.
Do you think you could ever find the motivation inside your carnivorous brain to not eat meat at least one day a week? We don't mean going full-blown vegan here, just eliminating meat from your diet one out of every seven days.
That is what the city of Los Angeles is hoping to achieve for its citizens, as the city council recently deemed all Mondays from this point forward in Los Angeles county to be “Meatless Mondays.”
