The Linkin Park frontman hanged himself in his home in L.A. County according to TMZ. He was found early Thursday morning around 9am. He was 41.

The singer struggled with drugs and alcohol for a number of years and openly stated that he was abused as a child. He has even stated in the past that he has thought about suicide.

Bennington was also very close friends with the late Chris Cornell, who also committed suicide by hanging in May. Whether coincidence or intentional on Bennington's part, today would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday.

Chester leaves behind 6 children from 2 wives, and a multitude of fans who are going to miss him with all of their hearts.
