Whether the world needs it or not, we're getting a remake of Point Break. Fourteen years after the original, we'll get this updated version for Christmas 2015.

I'll admit that I've never seen the original, although it seems like one of those "must-see" kinda movies. I think I'll need to check it out soon...see if it's as good as my friends say it is.

I do know that the original was about a group of surfers, led by Patrick Swayze, that rob banks when they're not ridin' the waves. The there's the young federal agent, played originally by Keanu Reeves, who goes undercover to stop the thieves. This new version takes a slightly different approach. There's still a group of robbers, and there's still a young federal agent. This time around though, the "bad guys" are not just surfers, but extreme athletes that enjoy all types of adrenaline pumping activities. And they're committing these robberies as a way to make social statements.

The cast includes some relative unknowns in the lead roles. The new Johnny Utah is played by Aussie Luke Bracey (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) and his nemesis-turned-friend Bodhi is portrayed by Venezuelan born actor Edgar Ramirez (Wrath of the Titans). You'll also notice well known character actors Delroy Lindo (Gone In 60 Seconds) and Ray Winstone (Beowulf)
