Yep, it's a remake of one of the all-time horror classics. Was as updated version of Evil Dead really necessary? I don't know...but the footage I've seen so far looks pretty sweet. And besides that, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are involved, so how bad can it be?

I guess it was bound to happen at some point right? I mean, so many other iconic horror films have been remade over the years...Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th, for example. At least with the new Evil Dead, we can rest assured knowing that Sam Raimi wrote the screenplay and Bruce Campbell is one of the producers. Whew!

And this version doesn't seem to be as intentionally cheesy as the original. It looks like they are going for some legit scares and some sweet gore. One other twist I think I'm gonna like is the main character (Campbell's Ash) is now portrayed by a young lady.

So you know the basic premise of Evil Dead right? So folks go to a cabin for whatever reason. Once there they discover the "Book of the Dead." A few incantations later, the poopoo is hitting the fan. That storyline seems to pretty much stay the same in this update.
