In excited anticipation of the arrival of Transit of Venus, the forthcoming new album from Three Days Grace...I thought I would share a few of my favorites from 3DG. That new album will be in stores on October 2nd by the way.

I have been a fan of this Canadian quartet pretty much since we first started playing their music damn near a decade ago (when they used to be a trio). I've never really been one that pays too much attention to lyrics...I'm just more of a music guy. Do I like the music, do I like the beat, does it make me move? These are the things I listen for. I'm also a guy that is in to melody. Now don't get me wrong, I can definitely get into something really heavy and chunky...but I normally prefer a song with a nice melody. And as a singer myself, I always appreciate good vocals...and I give a ton of respect to a band/singer that can pull it off in a live performance.

These are reasons why I dig Three Days Grace. Adam Gontier has such a cool voice...dude has pipes. And drummer Neil Sanderson is probably the most talented guy in the band...playing drums, singing harmony, and oh yeah, plays keyboard too. When they came to Roberts Stadium a couple years ago, I got to take some winners in early and watch their soundcheck. It was flawless...as good as the record. That's saying something.

So I just wanted to share with you a few of my favorite 3DG songs, and why I like 'em so much. Let me know what you think.

#1 - Break

This one was a no-brainer.  Without a doubt my favorite song of theirs. There is just something about the way that songs begins. A simple drum beat, nothing special, but you can feel it building...and then when that whistle blows, the band comes in and just blows it away. I swear, every damn time I hear that part I have to beat the sh*t out of my air drum kit. I will go out on a limb and say that this is actually ONE OF my favorite rock songs...ever...period.
