Evansville is home to the beautiful, scenic, award-winning Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage. It’s used by walkers, joggers and bikers everyday – and I finally decided to give it a try (ride) myself. The following video documents my maiden voyage.

The passage, for the time being, stretches from the north side of Evansville down to Sunrise Park on Waterworks Road, with several entry points along the way. I’ve heard so many nice things about the passage, but have never seen it for myself. For quite some time I have wanted to get the ‘ol bike out and go for a ride. In fact, I’ve toyed with the notion of riding my bike to work, at least during the summer when I don’t have to take the kids to school each morning. So what has been stopping me from doing this? Two things: a lack of ambition and will power, and not having a bike.

The other day I found myself in a strange and rare situation – my wife and both kids were gone for most of the day and I had NOTHING else to do. No ball games, no live broadcasts - just me time. So I decided this was the perfect time to try taking the passage into work. I borrowed my father-in-law’s bike, I packed some water and an AED and I hit the trail!

Check out the video below to see how my trip went. I guess the fact that I am here, writing this, proves that I didn’t die.

**Just so you know, this video has some really shaky, Blair Witch Project type of footage. I apologize in advance. I don’t have a fancy GoPro…just my phone in one hand and the other hand trying to keep me upright. You’ve been warned!
