Avenged Sevenfold have been on a total roll as of late, not slowing down in releasing new music. This has continued with their new song "Dose" that dropped recently as a tie-in with the mobile game Dungeon Hunter 5 as the soundtrack for a new A7X-inspired level.

The song sounds perfectly suited for a medieval game of epic proportions, featuring a huge dramatic atmosphere and sweeping guitar work. Long valleys of melody lead into guns-blazing shreddage, the group pulling it together in a total, beautiful excess.

Dungeon Hunter 5 will also feature a special level and cool skeleton boss inspired by the artwork from the band's latest album The Stage, which will be perfect to wreak havoc in along with a killer soundtrack.

“Musically, ‘Dose’ was supposed to be a Part 2 to “Roman Sky” and had a very cinematic feel, but we turned it into more of a tripped-out metal song,” says singer M. Shadows. “The lyrics were inspired by an unsolved mystery that dates back to the 1950s about an airline traveler who, if you believe the story, supposedly fell into our dimension from another. According to reports, he showed up in a Tokyo airport with a passport from a country that didn’t exist anywhere on a map. He was detained for questioning, but mysteriously vanished from a room guarded by immigration officials, taking with him all evidence of his existence. It ties into the theory that there are infinite possibilities of our lives being played out across space and time. Don’t know if the story is true, but I’m fascinated by that kind of stuff and thought it’d be a fun idea for a song.”

Just a couple of weeks ago, A7X added to The Stage with a new cover of Mr. Bungle's "Retrovertigo," further adding to the idea that The Stage is an evolving album that will continue to see more songs added to it. They also unleashed a Spanish cover of "Malaguena Salerosa" which marked the first time the band performed a song in Spanish.

It's been a pretty sweet time for the band in general as well. They're opening for Metallica on the latter's "World-Wired" tour, which you can be sure is as exciting for fans as it is for members of A7X. Guitarist Synyster Gates is also a new father, who is completely confident that his newborn will follow in his footsteps and end up a rocker in his own right.
