Auto Industry Supplier Bring New Facility and Jobs to Evansville

The City of Evansville and economic development partners at the Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville are pleased to announce that Fisher Dynamics, a worldwide supplier of seat mechanisms for the auto industry, will soon open a manufacturing facility in Evansville. Fisher plans to invest approximately $11 million in personal property and new infrastructure to the existing warehouse at 2301 St. George Road, and add 169 new jobs with an average wage of $19.61 an hour.
“Fisher Dynamics is excited to announce the addition of a manufacturing plant in Evansville Indiana,” stated John Hrit, Vice President of Global Operations. “We look forward to working with the community of Evansville, and thank the City for providing great support in the search for our new location.”
The privately-owned company headquarters is in St. Clair Shores, MI, with global operations in Mexico, Germany, Poland, China and India. Fisher Dynamics manufactures a variety of automotive seating components, including armrests, headrests, latches and seat recliners. In Evansville, the company will manufacture and assemble front row seat structures.
“Fisher Dynamics considered several sites before selecting Evansville as the best place to make a multi-million investment to grow the company for future success,” Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke said. “The company will be hiring more than 160 employees over the next two years, with an economic impact of nearly $22 million a year. These are good paying jobs offering good benefits that will boost our economy and help the Tri-State region thrive.”
Fisher Dynamics plans to invest $10 million in personal property, $1 million in real property improvements and create 169 new jobs; the Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville has suggested an incentive package that includes 8 year tax phase-in on personal property and a $60,000 training grant applicable towards newly hired Evansville residents, within the first 2 years.

Efforts to attract and welcome companies such as this have public and private support,” stated Deborah Dewey, President of the Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville. “We also have a long history of being home to successful privately-owned companies and look forward to adding Fischer Dynamics to that list. Evansville was definitely the right choice.”
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered the company up to $1,250,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives.
The positive economic impact generated from this project for the Evansville community totals in excess of $21.9 million per year, over the next 10 years.
