One of the best parts of the 'Thor' movies is Jaimie Alexander's Sif, one of Thor's female fighting companions who's just as badass as her male counterparts. And while we wait for Marvel to pull the trigger on a female-centric superhero movie, Alexander herself has hinted that she's been talking to Warner Bros. about joining up with their superhero team as well. Could Alexander be Wonder Woman, perhaps?
The final trailer for 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' debuted tonight during the fourth game of the MLB World Series, and it's pretty awesome. In the upcoming sequel, as Donald Sutherland's President Snow teases in voice over, Katniss will go from playing mere games to full-out war when she and Peeta are targeted to compete in a new and deadly tournament.
Though it was recently reported that 'Django Unchained' star Christoph Waltz would not be starring in the upcoming sequel, we are pleased to share the news that 'Horrible Bosses 2' has managed to hire Waltz after all. Waltz will be playing a bad guy -- of course -- alongside Chris Pine, who will play his son in one of the most inspired casting choices in recent memory.
Zack Snyder did some filming on Saturday night in L.A. for 'Batman vs. Superman,' which is what Warner Bros. themselves referred to as the title. The filming took place at a football game, set up at Weingart Stadium, which serves as the set of the Gotham City University home stadium. The Gotham City team, in black and gold, was playing against the Metropolis State University team, in red and white. If we've learned anything from 'The Dark Knight Rises,' no football game is safe as long as Batman is around.
Thanks to the millions of people who tuned into, tweeted, and confused their moms on Facebook about 'Sharknado,' SyFy is continuing to ride the shark schlock horror wave with 'Avalanche Sharks,' which is exactly what it sounds like. But in case you need more of an explanation, you can watch this trailer for the upcoming "film," which continues SyFy's tradition of featuring purposely bad movies for those who find actual movies to be just a bit too demanding of their intellectual faculties.
In an inspired bit of cross-promotion, Will Ferrell has gotten into character as Ron Burgundy to sell the new 2014 Dodge Durango. With his trademark absurd wit and charm, Burgundy promotes both the upcoming 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues' and the shiny new Dodge vehicle in a series of commercials that make us wish that Ron Burgundy would star in every TV ad.
We haven't seen much from 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' -- we know that the Dinobots will somehow be involved, and that all of our favorite transforming robots will be back to kick ass alongside Mark Wahlberg and a new cast of characters. Speaking of which, Michael Bay has offered up our first look at the humans in the film with a brand new, official image.
'Machete Kills,' Robert Rodriguez's follow-up to 2010's 'Machete,' ditches the grindhouse aesthetic and homage, and instead tries to emulate a late-'80s, early-'90s action flick -- basically, Rodriguez made the kind of movie he often makes. The result is an uninspired, joyless and oft-trashy exercise in self-indulgence. Rodriguez has spent his career making films the way he wants in his own backyard, and while you kind of have to admire the audacity of it all, the intent is questionable at best.
James Wan's 'Insidious: Chapter 2' opened at $41 million over the weekend -- for a film that only cost around $5 million to make, that's a massive success. Combine that with his $40 million opening for this summer's 'The Conjuring' (making it one of the most successful horror films of all time), and James Wan has become the horror master. FilmDistrict agrees, and the studio is already moving ahead with 'Insidious 3.'
Known for his work in the horror genre, James Wan has stepped behind the camera for something a little more action-packed with 'Fast and Furious 7.' We've gotten a peek at some of the interesting new cars being used in the film, but now star Vin Diesel is giving us a sneak preview of his own with these new photos of his character Dom (alongside co-star Paul Walker) on the set of the sequel.
While everyone is still debating whether or not Ben Affleck will make a good Batman in Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel 2,' which will feature a "Batman vs. Superman" element, we can tell you who was almost cast: Josh Brolin, who confirms that he was considered for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming sequel. Obviously, it didn't work out, but Brolin doesn't have any hard feelings about it.
Ever since the title 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' was revealed by Marvel and Joss Whedon at Comic-Con 2013 last month, there's been a lot of talk of how this epic villain will be handled for his big-screen translation. Now it seems we've gotten some (vague) answers from Whedon himself, who opened up about the difference between comic book Ultron and movie Ultron.
