In a day of major festival announcements, the 2018 Carolina Rebellion is stacking up to be one of the best. Organizers have revealed that Alice in Chains, Godsmack and Muse will headline the three-day music weekend May 4-6 at the Rock City Campgrounds at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Fans have been patiently waiting for new music from Alice in Chains and the veteran group had been working on album late in 2017. With the band likely ready to emerge with a new album by the time the spring festivals roll around, they'll get the first shot at the spotlight headlining the opening night of Carolina Rebellion on Friday, May 4. Joining them on the May 4 bill will be Shinedown, Stone Sour, Stone Temple Pilots, Bullet for My Valentine, Underoath, Parkway Drive, Pop Evil, Sevendust, Avatar, Red Sun Rising, Andrew W.K. Tremonti, Texas Hippie Coalition, Power Trip, He Is Legend, Turnstile, Stick to Your Guns, Counterfeit and The Wild.

Godsmack have also allowed for some extra time between albums as band members pursued other projects, but they've regrouped in 2017 to start work on their next disc, and like Alice in Chains, the spring festival season should come just in time to promote their next release. They'll be joined on the Saturday (May 5) bill by Five Finger Death Punch, Breaking Benjamin, Halestorm, In This Moment, The Used, Trivium, Black Veil Brides, Asking Alexandria, Hatebreed, Butcher Babies, New Years Day, Shaman's Harvest, From Ashes to New, Emmure, Toothgrinder, Palaye Royale, Palisades, Bad Wolves, Joyous Wolf and Them Evils.

Muse, in their only American festival performance, will have the honor of closing out the music weekend. The band re-entered the studio in early October with producer Rich Costey and had teased the idea of altering their release plan, possibly doing singles or EPs rather than albums. We'll have to see what happens there, but it looks as though they too will have new music to promote. Muse will be joined on Sunday's (May 6) bill by Queens of the Stone Age, Incubus, Billy Idol, The Struts, Clutch, Greta Van Fleet, Thrice, Baroness, Quicksand, The Sword, Red Fang, Code Orange, The Bronx, Mutoid Man, The Fever 333, The Blue Stones, Black Foxxes and Spirit Animal.

Joe Litvag, Executive Producer of Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion, said, “In all of the Carolinas there is only one music festival that has this kind of variety in a single weekend, spanning the rock spectrum and the decades of rock history. From Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, and Incubus to Five Finger Death Punch, Godsmack, Shinedown, Halestorm, and Alice In Chains, Breaking Benjamin, Stone Temple Pilots … it doesn’t stop. And that is exactly what we wanted to accomplish for this year’s Carolina Rebellion -- non-stop, incredible rock from a diverse range of top artists.”

Brent Smith of Shinedown said, “We are extremely honored to be playing Carolina Rebellion 2018. We have always admired how this event has grown year after year. With that being said, let’s get it on. C-ya in May, Rebels!!!”
