Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke is encouraging citizens and the region’s faith community to support our local homeless agencies, and particularly those that have permanently lost federal operating funds.

The following Evansville agencies lost some federal funding in 2015-16 due to greater emphasis on permanent housing programs for the homeless:

  • Aurora Inc. Homeless Outreach Team (Coordinated Entry & Case Management) (2016)
  • YWCA - Transitional Housing for Homeless Women in Recovery (2016)
  • Goodwill Family Center – Homeless Transitional Housing Program (2016)
  • United Caring Services – Homeless Transitional Housing Services (2015

The Commission on Homelessness has raised more than $105,000 toward its goal of $162,000 to help replace these lost funds in 2016.  Community support is needed to help secure the remainder.  Please make your donation to the Vanderburgh Community Foundation to assist these agencies.
