In my nearly 36 years of rock radio, I've seen many a band come, and many go.  Some bands put out a song, it becomes a hit and that's the only success they had was with that one song.  Most likely, you won't know even know any of the songs by the following 5 bands you've never heard of.  Let's begin, and comment at the bottom of the page of you like.

Nantucket

First up Nantucket and "Heartbreaker".  This band was on Eopic Records in the late 70's and early 80's.  They always featured a Giant Lobster wearing Levis on the cover of their albums.   Guitarist Tommy Redd could play slide guitar with a spoon.  This live version of "Hearbreaker" is very well done, and the song's studio version cracked the top 40 in 1979.

The Good Rats

Any song by this band is awesome, but I pIcked "Reason To Kill"  These guys were from Log Island and their debut album was released by Capitol records in the mid 70's. Capitol pulled the record after only 200 copies were printed and that makes the album "Tasty" and valuable.  The Marchello Brothers shared vocals and guitars on most material.  That band still performs today.

Starz

Starz is a band that "Maybe" you know.  The song I'm featuring did hit the top 40 in 1977.  Starz, like fellow New Yorkers shared the same label, Casblance Records and toured a lot together as well.   Front man Michael Lee Smith has a brother named Rex Smith who had a super lame top 40 hit with "You Take My Breath Away".  I like Starz better,

Angel City

Angel City also known as The Angels are an Australian band who sound more than a bit like fellow Aussies AC/DC.  Angel City did get early 80's FM Album Rock play (on KC103) thanks to this song, which is captured by a newer live video, it's "Marseilles"

The Sherbs

Lastly, I present The Sherbs (AKA Sherbert).  Yet another Aussi band who had a couple of FM hits in the early 80's with "We Ride Tonight" and the track performed below The Skill"
