It's the 30th Anniversary of the Princess Bride! Let's reminisce over this 80's classic with some quotes and fun facts!

The Princess Bride is, without a doubt, one of those movies that you can't help but quote every time you watch it. The quotes are timeless and so are the characters. But here are 30 classic quotes and some facts that you might not have known about this epic movie.

In the book, Inigo actually cuts out Count Rugen's (The Six-Fingered Man) heart, and he dies of shock. And also, I guess, not having a heart in his body anymore....

"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

Mandy Patinkin said that this line gets quoted to him by fans 2 to 3 times a day.

"Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something."

While filming scenes, when Robin Wright would get cold Andre the Giant would just put his hand over her head like a hat to warm her up. Because his hands were that big.

"Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while."

When Count Rugen hits Westley on the head, Cary Elwes told Christopher Guest to ACTUALLY hit him. "Just go for it." And he did.

Production was then halted for an entire day while Elwes went to the hospital afterwards.

Oops.

"INCONCEIVABLE!"
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means..."

When the movie was first trying to be made in the '70s Arnold Schwarzenegger wanted to play Fezzik. By the time the movie got made in the '80s, Schwarzenegger was too much of a hot commodity in Hollywood and they couldn't afford him, so they went with their first choice of Andre the Giant, who initially couldn't do it in the '70s. Funny how things work out like that.

"No more rhymes now, I mean it!"
"Anybody want a peanut?"
"AAARRRGGHHHH!!!"

Mandy Patinkin said that the only injury he ever got on set was a bruised rib from holding in his laughter during Billy Crystal's scenes.

"Mawage. Mawage is what bwings us togedah today. Mawage, dat bwessed awangement, dat dweam wiffin a dweam..."

The castle used in the film was Haddon Hall, which was built before 1087, and the tapestries in the Hall actually date back to medieval and renaissance periods. It looked legit because it WAS legit.

"Have fun stormin' da castle!"

The Inigo and Westley sword fight scene, while only about 3 minutes in the film, took a week to film.

"What about the R.O.U.S.'s?"
"Rodents Of Unusual Size? I don't think they exist."
*gets tackled by R.O.U.S.*

Mel Smith (The Albino) has never seen the Princess Bride, despite being in it. Apparently he was allergic to the contacts and solution that he had to use while being 'the albino' and was in constant pain while filming because of it. So he won't watch the movie because he doesn't want to watch himself relive that pain.

"You seem a decent fellow, I hate to kill you."
"You seem a decent fellow, I hate to die."

Liam Neeson auditioned for the role of Fezzik. But Rob Reiner laughed at him when he was told that he was "only 6 foot 4"

"There's a shortage of perfect breasts in the world. It would be a pity to damage yours."

Uma Thurman, Courtney Cox, and Meg Ryan all auditioned for the role of Buttercup.

Whoopi Goldberg also wanted the role of Buttercup. I love ya Whoopi...but no.

"Hold it, hold it. What is this? Are you trying to trick me? Where's the sports? .....Is this a kissing book?"

Iocane powder is a fictional poison. So don't worry about being poisoned by it or needing to develop a tolerance for it like Westley did.

"Since the invention of the kiss, there have been five kisses rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind."

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was offered the role of Fezzik, but couldn't do it due to his NBA schedule.

"If you're in such a hurry, you could lower a rope or a tree branch or find something useful to do."
"I could do that. I have some rope up here, but I do not think you would accept my help, since I am only waiting around to kill you."
"That does put a damper on our relationship."

The author of The Princess Bride, William Goldman, said the ideal Buttercup would be Carrie Fisher.

"Get back witch."
"I'm not a witch, I'm your wife!"

Mandy Patinkin said that he compared Inigo seeking revenge for his fathers death to him coming to terms with his own father dying of cancer in 1972. He said that while filming the scene where Inigo kills the six-fingered man, he felt like he was killing the cancer that killed his father.

I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying.

"As you wish."
