Today in Sports History

On this date (July 28, 1999), Barry Sanders retired.  Aside from Walter Payton, he was the best running back that I ever saw.

Your Indianapolis Colts were coming off of a 3-13 season with some rookie QB named Manning.  They, of course, went 13-3 in 1999 and have basically replicated that record every year since.  Additionally on this date, my Cincinnati Bengals were gearing up to go 4-12 after a 3-13 campaign the year before.

*sigh*
